FirstNet and AT&T to Deliver a Wireless Broadband Network

On September 19, 2017, Governor Greg Abbott announced his decision to partner with FirstNet and AT&T to deliver a wireless broadband network to the state’s public safety community. The FirstNet network will provide Texas with modernized devices, apps and tools for first responders to boost their communication abilities on the job, helping them save lives and protect communities.

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office is the first agency in the state to go operational with this technology.  The Sheriff has asked that each of you make plans to participate in a media conference to be jointly sponsored by (BCSO, AT&T, FirstNet, Texas DPS, et.al…).  The conference, along with a live demonstration, will be conducted on Thursday, January 25th, 1000hrs at the Brazos County Expo Center, 5827 Leonard Rd, Bryan, TX 77807.

The following is a portion of the formal media release that will be distributed on Thursday…

“It’s absolutely thrilling to have a dedicated public safety broadband network,” said Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk. “We’re still doing the same job. But with FirstNet, we can do it even better and faster than before. We have all the information we need at our fingertips, backed by the connectivity needed to access it. And most importantly, it keeps our deputies out in the neighborhoods, so we can spend more time serving Brazos County.”
