2012 NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
LORD
....our Father....our God.....hear our prayers.
LORD....hear our prayer for the men and women who serve in our country's military and those who are providing service and protection as peace officers in our communities.
LORD....we know that there are those in our World who want to destroy us; those who want to create havoc and terrorize us for our beliefs; and those who challenge our freedoms and our way of life that You have provided for all of us.
LORD.....we also know there are those who are threats to our communities; those who do wrong and disrespect authority; and those who steal, do harm to others, and even murder.
LORD....it is our way, through your blessings and the teachings of scripture, that we empower through Governing authority some to serve and protect us in our military and others to serve and protect us as our peace officers.
These servants, in our military and our law enforcement agencies, each swear an Oath of Service. In that Oath they promise to support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this State, all which are constructed under Your guidance and influence. That Oath ends with a simple plea....So help me God. In that plea they are asking for Divine assistance in honoring their Oath.
So we ask You LORD to help these servants to battle our foes, to right the wrongs and to bring peace and justice to those they serve.
LORD....it is for these servants that we pray tonight.
We pray that You will provide them the strength, guidance and perseverance they need to carry out their duty; we pray that You will protect those who are in harms-way and return each to their home safely; we pray that You will heal those who are injured in the line of duty and help us to honor and grieve for those who fall; and we pray that You give each of them the understanding that they have a Servant's heart and to help them to know that, "even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)
LORD, thank You for Your many blessings.
AMEN.
